In February 2006 a long standing client Unisystems Freight

They needed a complete solution to ensure all their IT and Telecoms equipment/services were moved swiftly, securely and without any downtime.

Giotech put together a highly detailed strategic plan for the office move, which involved 2 engineers working over the weekend to ensure the business was up and running for monday morning.

Work started at 11pm on Friday February 3rd, where initiated the changes for their MX Record.(this tells the world where to deliver the unisystems mail)

During the previous week Giotech telecom engineers had put in provision for 12 CAT6 points and 18 voice points.
On Saturday the 4th the Norstar Telephone switching system was installed and programmed.

As a part of their office move Unisystems had opted under our recommendation to install a new Dell Poweredge 2900 server, on the saturday their new domain was setup and all existing data/services from the old NT server were migrated to the new windows 2003 SBS platform.

Due to windows 2003 SBS including exchange Unisystems were now able to host their email system locally which brings a great many collaborative advantages to their day to day business.

For example: Sharing mail and calendars between users.

On saturday evening the Business class broadband was activated and first logon was made utilising new IP address. The company email system had been down for approximately 8 hrs during the DNS change over which is exceptional.

Sunday 5th February, with company domain, mail and internet services in place the windows XP workstations were setup all existing profiles from the old NT domain were migrated across to the new system with the only change being outlook 2003, instead of express.

The backup drive and Veritas software were installed and configured and the first backup of the domain controller taken.

3 Laser jet printer were installed on the network and shared print services setup on the new server.

As of 6pm Sunday 5th of February all company services and equipment were up and operational ready for a days business monday.

This complete office relocation was prepared, managed and completed solely by Giotech. The charge in labour for the move came to just £1,377.00 exc VAT
