What is GDPR?

GDPR means the General Data Protection Regulations. It is a European Directive which came in to force on 25 May 2018.

What is the point of the GDPR?
The GDPR is designed to give individuals more rights over the data kept and processed by companies and organisations and to ensure that they are compliant with taking “reasonable” steps to ensure the safety of that information.

What does it mean for me?
There are a number of obligations dependant on your industry, size, what personal data you hold and process, and what data you control.

What is Personal Data?
Personal data is any data that can be used to identify a person including IP addresses.

What if I get it wrong?
In the event of a data breach you could be fined up to 20 million Euros or 4% of your global turnover
